The BC Epilepsy Society provides workshops about epilepsy and seizures through our Partners in Teaching program.
These are available for school staff, students, childcare providers, recreation leaders, community support workers, and other audiences such as employers, community organizations, etc.
This program also provides a variety of information materials, such as handouts, DVDs, brochures, posters, and classroom resource kits.
SEIZURE AWARENESS WORKSHOPS
These interactive workshops will answer your questions by focusing on the facts and refuting the myths. You’ll learn about the condition, different seizure types, first aid and safety considerations, as well as the potential for related learning concerns.
Workshops are free and offered in a variety of lengths and locations for audiences of three or more. This workshop is also available by teleconference or Skype.
We also offer fun, age-appropriate workshops for children and teens. These incorporate goals relevant to school curricula on health, safety, science, and diversity.

Describes the impacts of seizures on learning and gives suggestions on how to support children with epilepsy in the classroom.
Epilepsy and Seizure Information for Schools DVD
This DVD explains facts about seizures and epilepsy, recognizing seizures and first aid, learning difficulties, and teaching strategies to assist those with epilepsy. It is available in 7 minute and 22 minute versions. Copies are available for purchase for $10, or on loan from our Resource Library, or can be viewed online.

CLASSROOM RESOURCE KITS
These are a collection of books, DVDs, and comics about epilepsy for children and teens. We donate our Partners in Teaching Classroom Resource Kit Materials to school district resource libraries across the province.
