Camp Opportunities

The BC Epilepsy Society works in collaboration with all three of the Easter Seals Camps from the BC Lions SocietyZajac Ranch, and Eureka Camp to provide recreational opportunities for kids and teens with seizures.

Camp gives kids with epilepsy a chance to focus on the amazing things they can do. Campers also:
  • Learn to adjust to new environments and various social situations
  • Gain a greater sense of personal satisfaction, self-esteem, and leadership
  • Develop personal habits that lead to a healthy lifestyle
  • Discover and explore interests, values, and talents
  • Participate on teams
  • Take responsibility for others and help out
  • Test skills in problem solving
  • Meet a new circle of peers who understand the ins and outs of life with a disability or medical condition
  • Create life-long friendships

The camps that the BC Epilepsy Society provides financial subsidies for families include:

BC Easter Seals Camps
These camps offer children from 6 to 18 years of age with physical and/or mental challenges the opportunity for overnight camping experiences. Camp locations are in Vancouver Island, Squamish, and the Okanagan Valley. The camps take place throughout the summer, with different weeks reserved for various age groups, abilities, as well as a weekend for first-time campers.

Zajac Ranch
This camp is for children with chronic health conditions or disabilities who might not otherwise have a chance to enjoy a summer camp experience. It is located east of Mission in the Fraser Valley.

Eureka Camp
This is a camp specifically for children with invisible disabilities (including epilepsy). It provides a supportive and nurturing environment with activities and programs that promote positive interaction to encourage self respect, self esteem, and self confidence. It has camp locations in North Vancouver and Princeton.

For more information about receiving financial subsidies for these camps, please contact the BC Epilepsy Society. Information about other recreational activities and camps are also available from our office.
