2010-2011 Lecture Series
EPILEPSY SURGERY
(Please disregard the 2008 E-Newsletter that was accidentally re-released yesterday. Information on our 2010-2011 lecture series and events are contained below.)
Epilepsy Surgery - is it a treatment or cure? The fact is, it can be both.
On Tuesday, September 14, the BC Epilepsy Society is hosting a lecture about Epilepsy Surgery. This is the first topic of our 2010-2011 Speaking of Epilepsy Lecture Series.
Traditionally, surgery has been considered a treatment of last resort. However, this is untrue and surgery may dramatically reduce or control seizures in carefully selected patients.
Learn the facts, along with fascinating information about how our brain functions. Many new and exciting developments have occurred in this field. Safer and less invasive options are now available, which include a quicker recovery period along with minimal risks and long-term consequences.
The speaker will be Dr. Mary Connolly, a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy and is the head of the Epilepsy Surgery Department of the BC Children's Hospital. This is a multimedia lecture and questions are encouraged.
This lecture will be held at the Chan Auditorium at the Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of BC located on 4480 Oak Street at 28th Avenue. Public transportation information, is available here.
The lecture is from 7-8:30 pm. It is $10, or free for current BC Epilepsy Society members.
Please contact our office at 604-875-6704 or at info@bcepilepsy.com to reserve your seat.
