Dreams Take Flight
Disneyland Adventure for Kids With Epilepsy
We're excited to announce that five children with epilepsy have the opportunity to participate in an all expenses paid trip to Disneyland. This initiative is courtesy of Dreams Take Flight, a national non-profit organization consisting of Air Canada volunteers dedicated to providing the trip-of-a-lifetime to physically, mentally or socially challenged children.
In order to participate, children must be between 6-10 years old, and have never visited any Disney theme park. Children must also have Canadian citizenship and hold a valid Canadian passport. The trip to Disneyland takes place on Tuesday, October 21st. The BC Epilepsy Society will be holding a draw to determine the lucky trip participants. To enter the draw, submit the Dreams Take Flight application form and proof of membership to our office by mail or fax. Contact the BC Epilepsy Society for the application form. The deadline to apply is Thursday, September 4th. Additional information is available on our website at www.bcepilepsy.com

Epilepsy Support Groups
Connect With Others
The BC Epilepsy Society offers support groups for individuals living with epilepsy, their families and friends to get better connected and strengthen their networks. In support groups individuals can share concerns, successes, coping strategies, meet others with epilepsy, and help support others.
We also offer resource, development and facilitation services to assist individuals who are interested in starting up support groups in their communities. For information on support group locations and community facilitators, contact our office at 604-875-6704 or at info@bcepilepsy.com

Heroes In Your Lives
Submit Your Stories
Many people with or caring for someone with epilepsy have stories about the "heroes" in their lives. These "heroes" have provided extraordinary support in times of need. Or they've provided the essential day-to-day supports to help someone live a successful and fulfilling life with epilepsy.
The BC Epilepsy Society would like to receive your stories about the "heroes" in your life. This call for submissions is part of an initiative to celebrate those who care for and support individuals living with seizures. Send your stories to laari@bcepilepsy.com or contact Shawn Laari at 604-875-6704 for more information.
