FUND RAISING WALK FOR EPILEPSY

Cindy's 5K Poker Walk

Poker is always a great way to get people together – especially if it’s for a great cause!  On Sunday, May 30th Cindy’s 5K Poker Walk will be raising awareness and support for the BC Epilepsy Society. During this fund raising walk, participants will collect a playing card at each of the one kilometer points. At the end of the walk, the best poker hands will win prizes from various sponsors.

Cindy’s 5K Poker Walk is part of the annual Shaughnessy 8K road race and the 2010 Vancouver Sun Run series. It begins at 8:30am at the Kerrisdale Arena at 41st and East Blvd. in Vancouver. The course goes though the beautiful and historic streets of Shaughnessy and Kerrisdale.

Registration is $19. You can register online at: http://www.lgrr.com/shaughnessy/entryform-2010.pdf

Participants and supporters are encouraged collect pledges to support the programs and resources from the BC Epilepsy Society. Click here for a pledge form.

This is a great event for all ages and abilities to socialize, raise awareness, and experience the buoyant spirit of the crowd. Breakfast is available to all participants at the end of the walk.

ITCHING TO SCRATCH

Scoring a Cure for Epilepsy

People do find unique ways to raise funds for the BC Epilepsy Society, as was the case with Sean Cody at the start of the year.

Sean staged his first-ever Itching to Scratch golf fund raiser between January 4th and February 12th, Sean played 450 holes or 25 rounds of golf in 40 days in support of the Epilepsy Foundation of Massachusetts & Rhode Island, the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida, and the BC Epilepsy Society.

Supporters made pledges to Sean in a variety of categories and the result was nothing short of a resounding success. To date Sean has already raised $6,800 in support of the BC Epilepsy Society alone.

Sean focused his fund raising on supporting research to find a cure for epilepsy that has affected his mother for the past nine years. To find out more, go to www.itchingtoscratch.com

Please contact our Executive Director, Shawn Laari at 604-875-6704 if you would like to host an event in support of the BC Epilepsy Society.
