At our Annual General Meeting (AGM) each spring, our membership elects Board members to fill vacancies at the time of the AGM for two-year terms. If a vacancy occurs at a time other than at the AGM, a new Board member may be appointed by the Board of Directors pro tem until the next AGM usually held in late March of each year.
Our Professional Advisory Committee is comprised of a team of medical and social work experts who help develop and update resource materials, as well as advise on medical and social services issues of importance to the Society and its stakeholders.

In November 2004, our Board of Directors adopted the Society's first five-year strategic plan that outlined our vision through the end of 2009, our Society's 50th anniversary year. We finished that first five-year plan in only four years, and with your input on the direction for a new strategic plan, our Board of Directors and staff implemented the new plan in early 2009.
