The BC Epilepsy Society brings the voice of our constituency — our members — to community and provincial forums. We also collaborate with other organizations to improve services and to break down the barriers to those living with epilepsy, and their families.

Members of the BC Epilepsy Society enjoy the following benefits:

• Free admission to our annual Speaking of Epilepsy lecture series or you can get a videotape of lectures that you may have missed.
• Post-secondary students are eligible for our annual $1,000 scholarships.
• Access to support groups in different parts of the province.
• Receive our twice-a-year 12-page newsletter.
• Receive e-newsletters to keep you up to date.
• Invitations to social events.
• Invitations to our Family Education Day at BC Children’s Hospital.
• Access to our comprehensive resource library.
• Online, on phone, and in-person support of our three full time staff.
• Financial subsidy for kids to attend the fully accessible Zajac Ranch.
• Voting privileges at our Annual General Meeting each spring.
• Free tickets for kids events through the Kids Up Front Foundation.

Other opportunities that we've recently offered to Society members include all-expense paid trips for kids to Disneyland and tickets to Markus Naslund's private suite at a Vancouver Canucks hockey game.

We deliver free Partners in Teaching workshops in schools that provide seizure awareness and epilepsy first aid training to school staff.

In 2008, we want to send kids to any of the three BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities camps in Squamish, Winfield in the Okanagan, and at Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island. We also have the opportunity to send kids with epilepsy to Camp Discovery in Washington at no charge thanks to the generosity of the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest.

Our membership base grew by another 33% last year and by 403% over the past four years, a testament to the value existing and new members found in our services, resources, and programs. We are on track to grow our membership further still this year.
