Improving Lives. Inspiring Courage.
The BC Epilepsy Society is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to serving British Columbians living with epilepsy, and their families.
We also work with educators and other organizations to build awareness about epilepsy related issues, and to increase people's knowledge about the more than 40 different disorders and appropriate first aid.
Our History
The BC Epilepsy Society was incorporated as a registered charitable organization on August 17, 1959, under the leadership of pediatric neurologist Dr. Norman Auckland.
Dr. Auckland believed that an increased understanding of epilepsy, among those living with the disorder and their families, could help those living with epilepsy to help themselves.
He created a self-help resource centre that has now grown to become the BC Epilepsy Society's Dr. Norman Auckland Library.
The Society's programs and services today remain true to Dr. Auckland's original vision of support and education.
