Each year, our Society hosts Speaking of Epilepsy, a series of lectures on a wide variety of epilepsy related topics. In recent years topics have been as diverse as treatments, new research findings, learning and cognition, women's health, employment, stress management, siblings of children with epilepsy, surgery, and human rights issues.
SPRING 2012 LECTURE SCHEDULE:
Mindfulness, Stress, and Health for Patients and Families with Epilepsy: May 23, 7-8:30 PM
Dr. Vo from the Department of Pediatrics at BC Children’s Hospital will be speaking about ways for adults, children, and caregivers to increase their mindfulness of their mental and physical health, the potential relationship between stress and seizures, and strategies for self-care.
Medications for Epilepsy: June TBA, 7-8:30 PM
Learn about the various options available, including ways to maximize treatment success. This includes finding the right medication for you, and helping to recognize and avoid the potential for side-effects.
Unless noted otherwise, lectures are held at the Chan Auditorium in the Education and Research Building at the Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of BC located at 4480 Oak Street at 28th Avenue.
Please contact us at 604-875-6704 or at info@bcepilepsy.com to register, and confirm presentation dates and locations.
Admission is free to current members of our Society and only $10 for each lecture if you are not a member. You can take out a membership at the start of any lecture and receive free admission.
